Puglia products

The Dedicato project for the cereal supply chain is a model that Granoro wants to extend to other typical Apulian productions.

The choice of working and producing in a supply chain, besides certifying the provenance and origin of food, brings cascading benefits to all operators, as it generates values and transfers value to their work and its fruits.

With each season, after each harvest, producing in a supply chain, we return to cultivating the fields with confidence and above all to operating with quality, with the certainty of an outlet for our products on the market.

For these reasons, we have extended the project to the EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL D.O.P Terra di Bari ā€“ Castel del Monte ā€“ 100% Coratina Cultivar, to the tomatoes grown and processed in Puglia and to the legumes grown in the Alta Murgia Park.

100% Apulian tomato preserves

Cultivated with passion and experience

Our tomatoes are grown by Apulian farmers who passionately work the land and produce intense red fruit ripened in the warm sun of Puglia.

Who transforms them

The tomatoes, harvested when they are perfectly ripe, are processed within 24 hours in the Foggia and Cerignola factories where, thanks to the expertise and professionalism of our partners, we are able to preserve the aromas and nutritional properties of fresh tomatoes.

We ONLY use Tomatoes from Puglia. Dedicato tomato preserves are obtained only from tomatoes grown in Puglia in the areas that go from Lesina to the lower Tavoliere in the countryside of Cerignola, Ortanova, Stornara up to the borders with nearby Basilicata.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Granoro Dedicato oil is obtained from olives from the “Di Corato” farm, grown in the countryside surrounding Castel del Monte, located in the countryside of Andria, in Contrada Livrera (today Rivera) one of the most prestigious olive producing areas in Italy. This is a Terra di Bari Castel del Monte Protected Designation of Origin extra virgin olive oil produced from a single variety: 100% ā€œcoratinaā€.

This variety, also called “racioppo”, is typical of the Corato hinterland, from which it takes its name, and it is among the richest in polyphenols, antioxidant substances that help fight free radicals. The plant is characterised by a thick crown and an elliptical-shaped fruit, pointed at the end. Ripening is late compared to other varieties and takes place between November and January. The colour of the olive starts out green, then becomes red, afterwards purplish tending towards black, depending on the degree of ripeness.

As required by the DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) regulations, the olives are harvested at the right degree of ripeness, directly from the plant and only by hand with the ancient method of ā€œbacchiaturaā€. The oil is cold-extracted within 24 hours of harvesting using only mechanical processes, which gives the oil very low acidity (max 0.5%).

Dried legumes

Chickpeas

Grass peas

Lentils

With the Dedicato line, Granoro enhances the tradition and authentic flavours of Puglia, rediscovering and supporting the production of legumes grown in the Alta Murgia area with the aim of preserving the peculiarity and biodiversity of this land, defending a heritage of flavours and culture that the land of Puglia preserves.

In the past, legumes were considered “the meat of the poor”, present above all on the tables of the less well-off families, today they have been re-evaluated as products to be protected and brought back into our diet thanks to their nutritional characteristics.

Granoro reintroduces ancient varieties of Apulian legumes including Grass peas, Chickpeas and Lentils.
